Finally got a sketchbook
 mmmmmk, so after reading this series, the Abarat, for like...the third time, I was inspired to do some quick fanart. Clive Barker, the author, does his own paintings for the books and uses them as the books' illustrations (which really help with visualizing what goes on). It's a great series and a fun read; plus, Disney has the rights to the movie! Which I hope will be animated. Just because it's easier to have the perfect voice for the animation, than to try and find someone who has the voice and the looks for the characters if it was a live-action movie. Sooo yah. My version of the characters are more comicbook-esque; how I imagine them to be in my own style. Attempted to practice my coloring skills (which aren't always terrific...). And drawing skills too...some parts look a bit wonky, but hey! Practice makes perfect  But again, the series is highly recommendable for good reading. The characters, the plot, the art...all very good. Okey, enough ranting, more drawing.  Allison Everything belongs to Clive Barker...except the art...which is mine. |
